Research Opportunity with Dr. Rezk-Hanna in the School of Nursing
Approximate hours per week: 8-10 hours
Location: On-campus
Qualifications:
- Individuals should have completed introductory coursework to biology and physiology
- Sophomore or junior students preferred but not required
- Previous laboratory experience preferred but not required
Job Description:
Undergraduate students will contribute to research examining the cardiovascular effects of secondhand exposure to tobacco smoke, including hookah and cigarette products. Students will assist with the experimental set-up, physiologic data collection and data analysis. Training in the use of research lab equipment, and development of related skills, will be provided as part of this mentorship.
Students will work under the supervision of Dr. Rezk-Hanna, meeting regularly with the research team to discuss study progress.
Prior to participation, students must complete required Environment, Health & Safety training and IRB compliance training. These onboarding steps will be coordinated during the application process.
Research activities will be conducted at the UCLA Clinical and Translational Research Center located in CHS level B and in other laboratories of UCLA, including the Factor building.
This position is for academic credit through SRP 99 or 199, with potential for paid continuation based on performance following completion of SRP units.
