WELCOME BRUINS!
We serve students in the life science, physical science, and engineering research disciplines. Our mission is to promote, develop, and celebrate undergraduate research, with the overall goal of enhancing your undergraduate education. We are here to assist students at every point in their research careers. For students who are interested but not yet involved in research, we provide resources to help you find faculty-mentored research projects. For current student researchers, we offer a variety of programs that provide scholarships as well as academic and professional development resources.
To learn how to get involved in faculty-mentored research, watch a recording of our Getting into Research presentation above.

BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH MINOR
The Minor in Biomedical Research is a free-standing minor, not associated with any one department – students from any major are eligible to apply. Outside of the introductory course, there is no prerequisite. Freshmen are encouraged to apply!
After you enroll, our faculty help to place you into the laboratory of one of the many participating faculty from the College, School of Medicine or School of Engineering, where you conduct at least four quarters of research, culminating in a senior thesis. You must also complete five courses from an interdisciplinary curriculum that focuses on skills necessary for success in research as well as the interface of science with policy, ethics, history and philosophy.
Entry into the Minor is competitive; you must submit an application no later than the end of the first quarter of your third year. Before applying to the Minor, you must take an introductory course.
CITYLAB AT UCLA
CityLab is a science educational program run by UCLA undergraduate and graduate students to introduce high school students in the Los Angeles area to the rapidly developing world of biotechnology through hands on laboratory experience. CityLab provides a forum for UCLA students to serve as mentors to the high school students we serve, practice effective teaching skills through interactive presentations, and execute experiments in a laboratory setting.

CLINICAL AND TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE – RESEARCH ASSOCIATES PROGRAM (CTSI-RAP)
Clinical and Translational Science Institute – Research Associates Program (CTSI-RAP) is an organization that offers undergraduate students the opportunity of engaging with clinical research through a wide range of projects while also acquiring volunteer hours through the UCLA Health System. The most impactful part of the program is connecting undergraduate students with potential Principal Investigators so that the students may assist with clinical research studies. We are also one of the few student organizations that enables students to shadow physicians. We hold weekly meetings that include speakers ranging from medical students to world-renowned physicians conducting cutting edge clinical research. Applications for the program open in early Fall; second years, third years, and first year transfers may apply. Those not eligible to apply are freshman and those students who have only one year left at UCLA.
SOCIETY FOR ADVANCEMENT OF CHICANOS/HISPANICS AND NATIVE AMERICANS IN SCIENCE (SACNAS AT UCLA CHAPTER)
SACNAS is dedicated to increasing the number of underrepresented students in higher education and in science. We are open to undergraduates, graduate students, transfer students, community college students, post-docs, faculty and staff who share a common concern about equal access to education, who has interest in outreach and/or is in need of opportunities in academic leadership and participation.  All majors and backgrounds welcome!

UCLA UNDERGRADUATE SCIENCE JOURNAL (USJ)
The UCLA Undergraduate Science Journal is a peer-reviewed publication registered with the Library of Congress, highlighting the top-quality research performed by UCLA undergraduates in all STEM fields, including life sciences, engineering, statistics, physics, mathematics, and computer science. We aim to provide a multidisciplinary platform that (1) allows students to publish their research and engage with the larger research community at UCLA and (2) involves students with the peer-review process. The USJ staff consists of three boards: Review Board, Editorial Board, and Layout Board, and submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous peer review process run completely by undergraduate students.
