Recruit Undergraduate Researchers

With the retirement of the UCLA Undergraduate Research Portal, our center now offers several streamlined options for labs and programs to recruit undergraduate researchers in STEM fields. Whether you’re looking for students with prior experience or those eager to get started, we can help you connect with a diverse pool of motivated undergraduates.

Our #1 recommendation is to post a recruitment notice on your lab’s website, as that is where we direct students who are searching for a position, and it helps to ensure that the student is interested in your lab specifically.

However, we can also help disseminate your listing.

Submit a Recruitment Request

We invite faculty, postdocs, graduate students, and lab managers to email urcsciences@college.ucla.edu to submit opportunities for undergraduate researchers.

Step 1. Choose a recruitment method.

You may choose one or more of the following options:

Newsletter Feature

We will include your opportunity in our next newsletter, which reaches hundreds of active research-seeking students.

BISEP Lab Recruitment

The Biomedical Science Enrichment Program (BISEP) is a two-week intensive bootcamp in September. At the end of the program, we host a lab networking event to match our 20-25 trained students with labs. If it’s off cycle, we can still share your opportunity with them via mailing list.

Step 2. Send us an email with the following details.

  • Division/Department of research
  • Project title
  • Lab website (if applicable)
  • Time commitment expected from students (e.g., hours per week, duration on the project).
  • Preapproved for credit? (SRP-99, SRP-196-199, etc.)
  • Application materials students should submit (e.g., resume, transcript, cover letter, google form)
  • Contact information – who students should send their application to.
  • Qualifications or skill required (if applicable).
  • Recruitment Method

Please send your submission to urcsciences@college.ucla.edu or using the form below by the last day of the month to be included in the next issue.
