UNDERGRADUATE SCIENCE JOURNAL (USJ)

The UCLA Undergraduate Science Journal is a peer-reviewed publication registered with the Library of Congress, highlighting the top-quality research performed by UCLA undergraduates in all STEM fields, including life sciences, engineering, statistics, physics, mathematics, and computer science. We aim to provide a multidisciplinary platform that (1) allows students to publish their research and engage with the larger research community at UCLA and (2) involves students with the peer-review process. Submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous peer review process run completely by undergraduates.

SACNAS

SACNAS at UCLA is part of the SACNAS National Organization . Both the National Organization and the Chapter are dedicated to fostering the success of Chicano/Latino, Native American and other scientists belonging to underrepresented groups from college students to professionals. Success being measured as the attainment of advanced science degrees, science careers, and positions of scientific leadership. While the National Organization focuses on the students and professionals currently in science academics and careers, the Chapter aims to increase the pool of students entering the science education and career pipeline. We do so through various outreach efforts that target grades K-12 in the Los Angeles area. Our outreach efforts help a new generation of students begin to identify as scientists and bring awareness of and access to postsecondary and higher science education.

CURE at UCLA

CURE at UCLA is an organization of undergraduate researchers who are dedicated to improving the undergraduate research experience. We aim to provide students with the resources and mentorship that they need to succeed through the implementation of an internal curriculum where members are paired with an experienced mentor and external workshops that are open to all students. CURE integrates resources and information from student organizations, faculty, and the Undergraduate Research Center to provide students with a comprehensive and cohesive guide to approaching undergraduate research.

UCLA CTSI

The UCLA CTSI Research Associates Program (CTSI-RAP) provides undergraduate UCLA students with the opportunity to gain exposure to hospital-based medicine as well as clinical research in an academic medical center. The program also builds a stronger support infrastructure for the research initiatives of UCLA faculty physicians and investigators. Research associates play a key role in the implementation and integrity of research protocols in which they are involved. They are also given the opportunity to make rounds with medical teams, observe common procedures, and experience didactic teaching sessions during the course of their research days.

The unique blend of first-hand clinical experience and scientific research gives alumni a unique advantage in public healthcare.

PULSAR

The PhD and Undergraduate Life Scientists in Academic Research (PULSAR) organization strives to build a sense of community in which undergraduates can connect and present their research in the life sciences with others with the direction of graduate student mentors. PULSAR aims to support undergraduate research scientists from non-traditional and underrepresented backgrounds in order to create a diverse and equitable environment. Undergraduates with no research experience, but with an interest in science are encouraged to join.

Undergraduate Journal Club (UJC)

The Undergraduate Journal Club is a space for undergraduate students to discuss topics ranging from physical and life sciences to social sciences and learn how to read research papers in those subject areas.
